Flagler College will celebrate the academic and personal accomplishments of more than 560 graduates in the Class of 2025 with a Commencement Ceremony at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m.

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Endeavors Symposium is an annual event at Flagler College that showcases the innovative research, creative projects, and scholarly work of its students. This symposium is a platform for students who have received the Undergraduate Research & Creative Endeavors grant, which supports their independent research and creative initiatives across various disciplines. Through a poster session, these students have the opportunity to present their work to the campus community, fostering an environment of academic exchange and collaboration.

Flagler College recently honored nearly 40 students with the prestigious Distinguished Major Award during its annual ceremony. This event celebrates students who have excelled academically, demonstrated leadership, and made significant contributions to their fields of study throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. Faculty members nominate these outstanding students, and the ceremony is followed by a reception to celebrate their achievements with family and friends.

Two Flagler College students showcased their oral history projects at the University of North Florida's Undergraduate Research Conference last month, as part of their coursework in the College's Public History Department.

The Performing Arts Department at Flagler College achieved remarkable recognition for its production of "Streetlight Woodpecker" at the prestigious Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). This outstanding production, penned by Flagler's Professor Shawn Fisher, was one of only five selected from 11 states to perform at the regional festival in North Carolina. The production garnered an impressive 14 National Awards, covering almost every award category, showcasing excellence in acting, directing, design, technology, management, and departmental collaboration.

Flagler College's Mock Trial team, a member of the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA), achieved remarkable success in several competitions during the 2024-2025 season. Under the guidance of their faculty advisor, Jonathan Growick, the team showcased their skills in critical thinking, teamwork, and trial tactics, earning multiple awards and recognition.

In the sixth annual COM Week speech competition, fourteen student speakers registered to participate, delivering a 3- to 5-minute speech about this year's theme of "Building COM-munity."

For the one-minute film festival segment of the 2025 Com Week, students were tasked with creating a 60-second film about anything that gets the audience to consider this year's theme of "Building COM-munity."

Three Flagler College students presented research posters at the 2025 Southeastern Estuarine Research Society (SEERS) Conference held at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Research Institute in Fort Pierce, Fla. Their presentations were titled "An Investigation of Alkalinity, pH, and Saturation State in the Matanzas River Estuary," "Marine Primary Production: A Method and Site Comparison in the Matanzas River Estuary in Northeast Florida," and "Spatial and Temporal Trends in Dissolved Nutrients and Harmful Indicator Bacteria in the Matanzas River Estuary." The conference provided an opportunity for academics and professionals from various fields to come together and share their research.

Erin Furtado's presentation at the 2025 Association of College Educators - Deaf & Hard of Hearing (ACE-DHH) Conference highlights the importance of early intervention for deaf and hard-of-hearing babies, showcasing the quality of Flagler College's Deaf Master's Program.

During Flagler's Business Week 2025, three student teams were collectively awarded more than $8,500 in seed money to bring their entrepreneurial ideas to life.

Recently, students in Flagler's Honors Program successfully completed and published Volume 2 of the Saints Academic Review (SAR), taking on roles like peer-reviewing submissions, overseeing revisions, copyediting, and making design choices. This journal of undergraduate research continues to showcase the academic excellence and dedication of the Honors students. This hands-on experience not only enhances their research skills but also prepares them for future academic and professional endeavors.

Flagler College congratulates more than 180 students who were named to the Fall 2024 President's List.

Flagler is proud to announce that the Spring 2024 anniversary issue of FLARE, the College's student-run literary and arts publication, has been awarded the "Superior" rating in the prestigious Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) contest, organized by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). This accolade places FLARE among the top student-produced literary magazines in the nation, celebrating the exceptional talent and dedication of its student editors and contributors.

Flagler College proudly announces the induction of nearly 20 of its top-performing students into Alpha Chi, the College's National Honor Society. This prestigious society is open to students who have earned at least 90 credits and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.7. Membership in Alpha Chi is a testament to these students' academic achievements and marks them as the best scholars that Flagler has to offer.

Members of Flagler's newly re-activated Society for Advancement of Mangement (SAM) chapter were recently awarded second place in a collegiate case analysis competition at SAM's 2024 International Business Conference.

A small, select group of academically talented students were recently inducted to the Flagler College Honors Program through faculty recommendation.

Over the last decade, the Peach Belt Art Exhibition has displayed art from participating Peach Belt Conference (PBC) students and staff, with the 2024 exhibition marking 10 years in competition.

A group of Flagler College Graphic Design students were recognized for their creative marketing and advertising coursework by the Jacksonville chapter of the American Advertising Awards this week with 10 of them taking home awards for their submissions. Commonly known as the ADDY Awards, this "is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local chapters of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) competitions," according to the submission website. "The mission of the [ADDY award] competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising." This annual AAF competition has local, state, and national tiers. Flagler's student winners were recognized as "the very best," among the regional market. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions with a chance to advance to the national stage level.

Flagler College congratulates nearly 170 students who were named to the Fall 2023 President's List.

A talented group of Coastal Environmental Science students recently joined professors from Flagler's Natural Sciences Department on a trip to Portland, Ore., where they presented research at the national Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation (CERF). This group consisted of students who had received academic credit for their efforts and collaboration on the research projects of Associate Professors of Natural Sciences: Matthew Brown and Ed McGinley.

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, celebrates students who are serving as circle (chapter) presidents. Students who serve as circle presidents are leaders amongst leaders. Members of ODK must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class and embrace the Society's ideals. They also must demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars of campus life celebrated by ODK: academics and research, athletics, service to campus and community, communications, and creative and performing arts. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Each year, every active ODK circle (chapter) is encouraged to recognize one collegiate member as its outstanding leader for the circle and the campus. Recipients of this award are honored for their contributions to the circle and their campus community. They are selected by their fellow members or the circle's leadership team.

Flagler College professors and staff were asked to recommend a robust group of graduating seniors from the Class of 2023 who boldly embody what it means to be a Saint. From a class of more than 450 seniors, a select group of students were nominated as featured graduates in the College's annual #FCGradStories.
